Welcome to GATBAS

The GST Appellate Tribunal Bar Association, Surat (GATBAS) is a distinguished and independent professional body established with the objective of representing, uniting, and empowering professionals who regularly appear before the GST Appellate Tribunal at Surat. The Association brings together Chartered Accountants, Advocates, Tax Consultants, and other GST professionals who are actively engaged in appellate practice under the Goods and Services Tax regime.

GATBAS serves as a vibrant platform for intellectual exchange, professional growth, and collective representation, while also acting as a bridge between the Bar and the Bench to ensure smooth, fair, and efficient administration of justice in GST appellate proceedings.

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote professional excellence, integrity, and continuous learning among GST practitioners. We strive to cultivate a disciplined and ethical professional environment, encourage up-to-date knowledge of evolving GST laws, and foster a constructive, respectful, and collaborative relationship between members of the Bar and the Hon’ble GST Appellate Tribunal.

Our Objectives

  • To promote, protect, and advance the professional interests of Chartered Accountants, Advocates, and other professionals appearing before the GST Appellate Tribunal.
  • To enhance professional competence through seminars, workshops, study circles, lectures, panel discussions, and continuing professional education programmes on GST laws and allied matters.
  • To maintain and strengthen cordial relations between the Bar and the Bench, thereby contributing to the effective, fair, and expeditious administration of justice.
  • To provide a common forum for members to deliberate upon practical challenges, interpretational issues, procedural difficulties, and emerging trends under GST law.
  • To collectively represent and place before appropriate authorities, judicial forums, and government bodies any genuine difficulties, suggestions, or grievances faced by members.
  • To establish, maintain, and develop a professional library, digital resources, research material, and reference tools for the benefit of members.
  • To uphold high standards of professional ethics, discipline, dignity, and mutual respect among members of the Association.
  • To organise welfare, social, cultural, and support activities for members and, where appropriate, for their families, fostering a sense of fraternity and belonging.

Membership

GATBAS invites applications for membership from Chartered Accountants, Advocates, and other eligible professionals who are engaged in practice before the GST Appellate Tribunal. Membership of the Association signifies a commitment to professional excellence, ethical conduct, and active participation in the collective growth of the GST appellate bar.

All applications for membership are subject to scrutiny and approval by the Executive Committee. The Committee reserves the right to approve or decline any application in accordance with the Association’s rules, objectives, and code of conduct.

Membership Types & Fees

  • Annual Membership: Membership valid for one financial year, renewable annually upon payment of the prescribed annual subscription.
  • Life Membership: Membership granted upon a one-time payment, entitling the member to lifelong association with GATBAS, subject to compliance with the Association’s rules.

Note: Membership fees once paid are non-refundable under any circumstances.
