Our Initiatives
The GST Appellate Tribunal Bar Association, Surat (GATBAS) is committed to the continuous professional development, collective growth, and overall welfare of its members. Through a range of structured and sustained initiatives, the Association endeavours to strengthen professional competence, promote ethical practice, and build a cohesive and well-informed GST appellate bar.
Professional Library
GATBAS maintains a well-equipped professional library comprising the latest publications on GST law, allied tax statutes, procedural manuals, leading commentaries, journals, and case law reporters. The library also includes access to digital resources and reference materials, enabling members to stay updated with evolving jurisprudence and to prepare effectively for appellate proceedings.
Educational Seminars & Workshops
The Association regularly organises seminars, workshops, lectures, and Continuing Professional Education (CPE) programmes on contemporary and emerging issues under GST law. These programmes feature eminent speakers, including Hon’ble Judicial and Technical Members, senior advocates, Chartered Accountants, academicians, and subject matter experts, offering members valuable insights into legislative developments, judicial trends, and practical aspects of appellate practice.
Representations & Advocacy
GATBAS actively represents the collective voice of GST practitioners by making reasoned representations to government authorities, policy makers, and administrative bodies. The Association addresses issues relating to procedural difficulties, interpretational challenges, systemic concerns, and policy matters, with the objective of facilitating a fair, efficient, and practitioner-friendly GST appellate ecosystem.
Bar–Bench Coordination
Maintaining a respectful and constructive relationship between the Bar and the Bench is a core focus of GATBAS. The Association engages in regular dialogue with the Hon’ble GST Appellate Tribunal to support smooth conduct of proceedings, improve infrastructure and facilities, and resolve administrative or logistical issues impacting members and litigants.
Knowledge Sharing
To promote continuous learning and awareness, GATBAS facilitates structured knowledge sharing through newsletters, case law digests, professional updates, and discussion forums. These initiatives help members stay informed about recent judgments, statutory amendments, circulars, and important developments in GST law and practice.
Member Welfare
Recognising the importance of solidarity and mutual support, GATBAS undertakes various welfare initiatives for its members and, where appropriate, their families. These initiatives aim to provide assistance during times of personal or professional difficulty, reinforcing the sense of fraternity within the Association.
Networking Events
The Association regularly organises networking events, informal gatherings, and social interactions to foster camaraderie, professional bonding, and meaningful relationships among members. Such engagements strengthen collaboration, mentorship, and a shared sense of identity within the GST appellate bar.
